Explorgasm from Deerpeople is one of the best things I’ve discovered about the Oklahoma music scene as a whole. They called it folktronica, and it’s absolutely wonderful. These folks are from Stillwater, and there are at least six of them. I’m a big fan of large bands. These guys seem to play really often, and they’re heading down to SXSW to play at J. Black’s Feel Good Lounge with other great bands like Grand and Noble and Elsa Rae.
Deerpeople almost have two thousand fans on Facebook, and their music is so good! I love well written songs, and these songs are totally well written. I love experimental or electronic sounds, and this album has it’s share. There are French vocals. There are dance beats. It sounds like there might be an ebow. There’s definitely a really great acoustic piano. Explorgasm is only five tracks, but you can download it for free on Bandcamp, and it’s absolutely worth it.
I’m not sure what ghettotech really is, but I like this folktronica thing. Check this band out. Download their album. Even go ahead an pay for it if you can afford to. They were nice enough to put it up as a name your price download, but bands really need money to make significant progress easier to achieve.
Go see Deerpeople live if you get the chance. If not in Oklahoma, then in Austin. Everyone always has a great time at SXSW. I’m sure Deerpeople will have a performance to remember.
