I’m not sure at all what the tag of 1982 means, but that’s what Tulsa, Oklahoma band Jürgen Müller decided to use on the album “Science Of The Sea”. This is a very pretty album.
The first track, “Beyond The Tide” is beautiful. It’s about five and a half minutes long, and it’s organized really, really well. The first minute just floats on a repeated chime riff, and then a very high frequency starts to meander around for another good minute while some lower frequencies begin to enter the picture. There are some really good glass bottle and violin string tones in here as well.
Even the album cover for “Science Of The Sea” is really beautiful. It’s very soft, and I think it’s a picture of trees, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it were actually something else.
“Dream Sequence For A Jellyfish” is my favorite track on the album. It’s pretty fun, and a bit quicker of a build than the majority of the rest of the album. This track is only a minute and forty-five seconds long, but it’s really solid the whole time.
My friend who listens to much more ambient music than myself overheard a few tracks on here and really enjoyed it. “The Elusive Seahorse”, “Vast Worlds Beneath”, and Sea Bed Meditation” are all very close seconds for me with this collection.
Head over to Jürgen Müller’s Bandcamp page to check out all the many albums and songs they’ve put on there. It’s all solid.
